BS EN 42crmo4 Alloy Steel is a common chromium-molybdenum steel that
usually used after quenchedand tempered, with high intensity, high hardenability.
BS EN 42CrMo4round steel has better performance than 34CrMo4 steel due to the
carbonand chromium content is higher. 42CrMo4 alloy steel has higher strength
and hardenability. The 42CrMo4 alloy material alsohas high fatigue strength and
good low-temperature impact toughness. The temper brittleness is not obvious.

5. Heat treatment of 42CrMo4 steels
Annealing 42CrMo4 steels
Heat 42CrMo4 steel forged steel slowly and carefully 800-850 ¡ã C;
Cool slowly in an oven to a temperature of 480 ¡ã;
Complete annealing of steel in air.
Quenching and tempering (Q + T),
Heat 42CrMo4 steel slowly up to 880 ¡ã C;
Soak at this temperature, then simmer in oil;
Temper as soon as 42CrMo4 steel to room temperature (20 ¡ã C);
Heat evenly to a suitable temperature of 560 ¡ã C;
The 42CrMo4 material is withdrawn from the oven and cooled in air.
6. Forging 42CrMo4 alloy steel
Heat 42CrMo4 structural steel evenly and slowly;
Raising the forging temperature to 1150-1200 ¡ã C.
Always keep the forging temperature above at least 850 ¡ã C
7.Weldability
Engineering
42CrMo4 steel has limited weldability. Preheating up to 200-300 ¡ã §³
highly recommended; the upper limit must not be exceeded due to
risk for deterioration of the chrome layer.
Alloy 42CrMo4 steel
can be friction welding. However, precautions are needed to
to limit the formation of undesirable microstructures in the welding zone.
