Applications

  • SUS304 is classified as an austenitic stainless steel containing chromium and nickel in its components, and is the most widely distributed stainless steel. SUS304 is also the base for other austenitic stainless steels. SUS303 is available if machinability is more important than SUS304, and SUS316 is available if corrosion resistance is more important. It has excellent weldability and can be welded to iron without much discomfort.
    However, the machinability is not very good. This is because the viscosity is higher than that of iron materials, and work hardening occurs at the cutting points. Due to this work hardening, SUS304, which is normally non-magnetic, may become magnetic.
    It is widely used in various industries due to its high distribution volume and excellent strength and temperature changes.
    Buildings: Automatic doors and elevators of buildings, silver frames and silver plates of escalators, mirrored parts of pillars and doors, handrails, etc.
